Pic of the Day ~ Becca enjoying some Ice Cream!

Becca and icecream

The last couple days I have been a flake. I cannot get my self together in the mornings, it is so odd! This morning I forgot all the jazz to join the new play group!! Luckily JoAnne totally had my back! The play date was awesome! The mom’s were great and the kids were good too! I am really glad I joined! We met at a park not far from our house and just let the kids play while we chatted! Intelligent conversation not about dinosaurs, snakes and animals was so wonderful!! Afterwards JoAnne and Ryan took us out for lunch!

Becca had a nap then woke up all odd and honestly annoying! I hate to say that about my almost perfect child , however I could not wait for J to come home. I had asked the little monster sweetie pie if she would like to go swimming. Well you all know she is part fish, so the logical answer would be “YES!” with a squeal. I was so looking forward to soaking in the pool, relaxing….yeah Becca said “NO!” I knew at that moment the afternoon was going to be bad. I am not totally selfish is was 36 C (97 F for those folks) out there today! I was hot and sticky (so was Becca) from playing at the park (even though we both had a break for nap/work on design) we both could have used a refresher!

Becca later declared that she did want to go. Yet she refused to let me help her get into her bathing suit, in fact would never come within arms reach of me!! GRRRRRR….so I finally lost it and proclaimed “If you are NOT HERE IN 5 SECONDS WE ARE SO NOT GOING SWIMMING!” Yup I yelled. I am a bad parent. Whatever, I was so frustrated at that point I wanted to scream not just merely yell!!! So umm yeah we did not go swimming and both Becca and I were mad at each other for a while (window into the teenage years?!?!) We both felt a lot better once Daddy was home, and we got a break from one another! Tomorrow we are going on an adventure with JoAnne and Ryan so the no can attitude better be gone by morning!

At last I finished the theme I was working on. Please be patient as I work out the bugs (haha lady bugs hahha get it…ok yeah I am lame). So here I present A Lady Bug Theme … Once again I drew all the graphics and worked out all the code myself. I am very proud of how it all came together in the end.

I have mentioned that people are not always kind (or quiet), when they notice that Becca is wearing an eye patch. Most people give that “Awww poor kid smile” but remain silent. Oh OH but the ones that have to open their big mouths are the ones I have prepared speeches for now. Even children can be a little cruel. Staring a Becca like a circus freak, so yesterday I was ready, at Disneyland. To three different kids that were really going over the top with staring I simply bent down to their level and said “You know this is her day off, when she is working she’s a pirate, so I wouldn’t stare too long” and I’d smile then stand back up. lol! Well all three parents chuckled at this, then quietly spoke to their children about staring. One mom proclaimed ” Oh do not tell them that!! They will believe it!! heheheh!”, so I looked her dead in the eye, straight faced and replied “What’s not to believe?”

ps for those of you that spotted the new theme…you quick little devils!! hehe! Now you have to comment again!

Pic of the Day ~ Chelle trying to get a pic of her and Becca on the Dumbo ride!

Mommy & Becca on the Dumbo Ride

There are days I wonder how my blog is perceived. I know there are people judge blogs at first sight, deciding right then in that moment it is that kind of blog. What they must think arriving to Crazy Thoughts to witness my daughter splashed across the front page and that Becca graces every post with her presence. Do they assume I think my daughter is the cutest kid ever? (by the way she is cute, but who am I to say the cutest?) Do they assume I am nothing but just a Mommy? Is it taken for granted that I am boring, uneducated and simple?

When thinking of this, I remind myself that I really do not care what they think. The likelihood that I read their blog is small, although I may for a while, the superficial want to be the best blog in the world, shines through and gets annoying to me. I really enjoy the regular folks with regular blogs that just tell the story as they see fit. The ones that do not write for a mass audience nor do they care if they have one. (although a few comments always feels so nice!)
I have to admit there are a few massive blogs I totally love, usually it is because I was reading them long before they became famous and they have stayed true to themselves. I have read the ever famous Dooce once or twice, just to see why people fall at her feet. I didn’t get it. I mean I am sure she is a great blogger, she is excellent at telling it in a way that a mass amount of people will relate. Cool for her, but really when there are 150 comments is there any thing else to say? Will a blogger feel even more warm and fuzzy that she received 151 rather than 150, I think not. (edit: I stopped by today I should say 250 comments rather than a mere 150, so sorry for the underestimation!)
Alright back to me…hehe…if they are passing judgment on me by glancing at my blog, they are missing out. I am much more than just a stay at home mom. I do blog about the adventure that my family is on. We are living a life that very few do. We are Canadians living it up in California. Becca’s Grandparents are lucky if they see her once a year, so yeah I post a picture of Becca EVERY day for her Grandparents, Great Grandmas, family and friends can therefore be part of her life even though it feels like she is a life time away from them.

I started this blog because I wanted to be able to stay in touch with everyone. No matter how busy our lives got (and everyone’s lives do get crazy busy), there would always be a spot for people to stop by, get their Becca fix and find out what adventure we have been on recently. Not long after I started blogging, people that we did not “know” started commenting and reading regularly. Those people are now friends, even though we have never met and may never meet.

I never started out wanting to be the best of the best in the blogging world. Sure I wanted a little piece of the pie. I am happy with the comments I get (sure getting more makes me feel all warm & fuzzy but I am not asking for in the hundreds here). I am honoured that people find what I have to say interesting. I like that I have a community of mothers and others where ever I go, that help me when I stumble and cheer me on when I am doing well. For me that is what blogging is about.

Alright now that issue is settled, we are back to our regularly scheduled, self-absorbed, picture overload, boring, just a mommy blog.

Becca and I cruised to Disneyland today. I was extremely scattered brained this morning and we got off to a slow start. We had a fabulous day!! I wanted to try a big day like that without the stroller. Becca was awesome!!! I am all about reducing the amount of crap supplies I need to carry with us. We went with only my tiny mec shoulder bag!!! Ity bitty cute purses are sure to be around the corner (right!! RIGHT!?!?) All in all a great, fun adventurous day!!!

We are joining another Mom’s group tomorrow. My dear friend JoAnne and her son Ryan are part of this group as well. Most of the events appear to be closer to home (the group is larger and sectioned into regions more so) and more park/play orientated. I thought it would be good for Becca & I to have a little variety, yet have the comfort of having good friends around too!

One more thing!! My Mother’s Day gift arrived today!!!!! However I was in the shower (Disneyland always makes me so dirty..) and missed the mail lady!!! ARRRRGGG! I hope to pick it up tomorrow!!!! w00t w00t!

How About That

Pic of the Day ~ Becca Posing for the Camera

A very happy Becca

We all headed out shopping this morning!! (J took the whole day off!!! One would think he missed us!!) We went to the beautiful outdoor mall, that includes the Apple Store, the Thomas Store and so so much more. We browsed the Apple Store first….OOooo they are so lovely!! Thankfully Becca got bored so we had to leave, or I would have stayed all day!!

I mention shopping, not only because that is what we did today, but also because something remarkable happened. It may not be remarkable to you, however it definitely was for me. I have never been a size two and probably never will be unless I get a hip and a couple of ribs removed (can that be done?!?!) In even my glory days I was never smaller than an eight and more of a ten. I am a curvey girl and proud of it (when the curves are a tad smaller, at the moment I need work!)

Pregnancy worked my body over and then some. It moved things around and the curves well are different. I am five pounds away from pre-pregnancy weight (although that was not all that good either). Yet I am way more fit and healthy than I was before I was pregnant with Becca. I am more active, being a full on computer geek before having a child. I am actually taking this time that I am not pregnant to try to get in better shape. My trying includes cutting out a lot of snack food (we have been awesome about this!) and being even more active with Becca. I do not have the motivation to be at a gym by 6 am to work out, nor do I have the will to go to a gym after J gets home from work. It would be nice to have that kind of motivation, but I am being honest here! So instead Becca & I go for walks, go on adventures, tour Disneyland and the zoo.

Until the last week or so I figured it wasn’t really working and I would have to step it up a notch somehow. Then I lost on whole pound!! I was so excited! I know it is not a lot, but it was different in a good way so I was happy. I have noticed my shorts are a little big, however I was looking at the scale for results. It seems I have done that in error. While shopping today, I discovered I am a whole size smaller than the last time I shopped for shorts!!!!! I talking GAP size smaller. I was in shock, trying on the cute jean skirt, only to discover the smaller size did not create the mushroom effect!!!

I have been on the verge of a smaller size forever now! The size smaller being not right, yet the larger size looking a little frumpy. I was over the moon to discover I would be sporting a a smaller size. It is a huge motivator to say “no” to the snacks and get moving even more!! YAY!

As a family we all went swimming in the pool, but it was a little too cold so we filled Becca’s kiddie pool up for her. After dinner Becca and I walked to the store to pick up a few things for supper tomorrow. We are crock potting it tomorrow, then Becca & I are heading to Disneyland for the day!!! There are only a few more weeks and a couple days in each week before we are blacked out for the summer, so my goal is to hit Disneyland once a week!

I am off to read some blogs, I got a little behind this weekend working on the almost finished design…Now that there are only reruns on I should be able to finish them faster!!

Pic of the Day ~ Becca & J in the Pool
Becca & J in the Pool

J returned last night some time after midnight, I am not entirely sure, I was pretty much asleep! I did sort of wake up when he came to bed, mumbled a few things then zonked out again!

J got up with Becca this morning :) however, I woke up just before 7 am anyway out of habit. We hung out together as a family then J took Becca out to get some groceries.

That left me alone with my new design. I have mentioned it is almost done….well it is even closer to being almost done! If only I could work on css, php, loops and design everyday, I would be so much faster on it all!

After Becca’s nap J took her swimming. It was 26 C today here, which honestly is a cool day in California (all the Canadians are saying “Pppssshhhaaa”). Becca came in with blue lips, shivering after just over half an hour in the pool. Poor Girl! Yet J had to drag her out, bribing her with snacks!

It feels perfect to have my husband home again. Although the days went quickly and Becca & I had a lot of fun, it still did not feel “right” until now. Since it is a long weekend here in the US, J may even take tomorrow off too!! (or at least part of it!)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I am off to snuggle the boy and play PS2!

Our Last Day…

Pic of the Day ~ Becca at Snack Time

Becca at Snack Time

Well it is officially the last day Becca and I are on our own. J returns just after midnight tonight (I hope to stay awake but phew am I tired!) The days have flown by quickly, full of fun Mom & Kid stuff, new adventures (ie the glasses) and laughter.

Becca completely amazes me. This whole glasses thing could have been a disaster. We could have been scratching our eyes out trying to get her to wear them. However that is so not the case! Becca wore her glasses all day once again. It is like she has already accepted them as part of her world. I tried them, just to see, seriously my kid is as blind as a BAT! (are bats truly blind?) The patch is really starting to drive her nuts. We cannot scrub the old glue from the bandage off, and we just keep adding a new one. It sucks…6 more days thank goodness (unless of course the doc comes back and says she needs it longer…ugh!)

We had a wonderful play date with the ever so awesome mom & son team that took care of Charisma (the cat) while we were gone on vacation. Her son is just over a year old and oh such a cutie pie!! Becca was GREAT, shared her toys, handing him some and being ever so sweet. She even was all comfortable with the other Mom, which is so not like her, Becca is usually all shy and freaked out. I was shocked, Becca even shared HER cat!! It was like I was in the twilight zone! Yet I was so proud!! I am glad it went well, because it is so nice to be able to host a play date!

After dinner I took Becca to a video rental store. My calm, usually well behaved toddler went WILD…I mean WILD! She ran up and down the isles (thank gawd not ripping videos off the shelves). The entire time we were there, Becca was running and running and running, it looked really cute because she had picked up a leaf outside and she ran with it in her hand the entire time!! Thankfully the video dude was really nice and did not condemn me to hell for having such an unruly child. She never did make a mess (before we left I double checked) and she was sweet to everyone. I think these glasses are not only helping Becca see, they are also giving her confidence she has never had!

Ooooo one last note! Becca received a package full of goodies from her Grandma M. The best part, was the castle Becca received in Canada to play with and we did not have room to bring back was in there. Oh Oh and a School bus, and a make noise thing (always the Grandparents sending things that make noise eh? hehe joking it rocks!) Oh one last very cool thing….shhhh do not tell Becca but her ever cool Grandma M found a Dora that fills with air and has a Happy Birthday sign (you know the ones that people put on their lawns!!!) It is so totally cool!!!! AND Becca received some new books!!! OH OH hehe I keep forgetting things….My Father-in-law sent me a cool clip to the keys and diaper bag clock!!! He had given me one before and I actually wore the sucker out! (and the battery died). A big Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You!

I am off to watch a chic flick!!!!!! For the first time since we arrived in California!! How pathetic is that?
