Sometimes it is Better to Stay in Bed
Tuesday, February 28th, 2006Pic of the Day ~ Becca down right dirty!
There are days, when you know as soon as you wake up, that it really is best to stay in bed. I awoke this morning feeling icky and knowing, just knowing it was going to be a bad day. Never a good way to start a day
.
I drove in the rain, across town at 8am, lovely morning rush hour, to get to my dentist appointment. I sit in their pretty little waiting room and fill out my paperwork. I wait & wait…finally the receptionist calls me to the desk, only to inform me that my insurance has been canceled and to feel free rebook the appointment once I have insurance!!!
I cruised back home in tears (remember I told you I felt icky…that included emotionally). I walk in the house and cry more because I am crying about the dentist. J quickly gets ready for work, so he can get to the bottom of it….
Ummm….yeah we have been living in the US without any health (or dental) insurance for the last MONTH!?!?! The university “accidentally” cut us off, without informing anyone & proceeded to attempt to reinstate the insurance before we discovered it was missing!?!?! J tried to get to the bottom of it on his own and made no head way, so he told his boss what was going down. His boss went all freaky on the Chancellor’s ass, informing him that the university is liable for any medical costs incurred while this “accident” was unfixed!! We now have insurance back dated to the beginning of the month. However, I still wasted my morning going to an appointment that I could not go through with.
I can’t help wondering what the hell would have happened if we would have really needed to see a doctor. Paying for medical care in the US would have devastated our family. And sure they say that the university would have been liable for any cost we would have incurred, but how the hell would we have gotten the money from them. This American system is whack! No insult to all the fine Americans, but damn your health care system is nuts.
On to the warm and fuzzy things of my day. Becca was an angel all day (until Daddy came home, then she turned into a holy terror!), which was nice for me. We vegged out in the morning, enjoying Dora and snuggling. I needed snuggles! After Becca’s nap we went outside to play. Mommy forgot that the kiddie pool would be full of rain!! After an hour, both Becca & I were soaked!! It was fun to watch her play at the pool (until she would climb in!!) We also built some riverways once I dumped the pool!! Do you remember doing that as a kid??? I do!! And today it was sooo fun to do with Becca!! The water flowed great and the puddles were fun!! It was nice to get all wet and dirty with my daughter!
We came in for a snack of peanut butter and apples (yum!) and Becca drank her milk from a cup (with no lid!). She was so graceful with it! Sippy cups will not be around forever!! The entire afternoon was wonderful. I still feel like crap (monthly witch) however the time spent with Becca made the crap not so important….
